One is for potentially dating fossils (once-living things) using carbon-14 dating, and the other is for dating rocks and the age of the earth using uranium, potassium and other radioactive atoms.

I did not connect C14 to fossils, I mentioned several radiometric dating methods used to establish alleged lineages together, including those for fossils and some for other bodies, of which C14 is one. I"m well aware of how C14 is used ( and misused ).

I guess you don"t realize C14 isn"t the only form of radiometric dating and that there are several that go back billions of years.

C14 dating can be reliably compared against other radioisotopes, dendrochronology, ice cores, varves and even objects of known age, to confirm its accuracy. It"s highly accurate.
